2015 - 2018 Report on Foundation Activities

In the years 2015 through 2018, the Foundation focused on fulfilling its commitments for capital projects and making a limited number of grants aligned with its strategic initiatives. Over this time period, grants totaled $29,076, 325. In each year, the vast majority of grant funds went to several health, education and cultural institutions in Boston that had received multi-year pledges from the Foundation for capital projects.

In 2015, the Foundation made grants totaling $10,310,825 to 25 organizations. Ten grants were for capital projects and 15 went to smaller community-based organizations.

In 2016, the Foundation made grants totaling $8,125,500 to 28 organizations. Seven grants were for capital projects and 21 went to smaller community-based organizations.

In 2017, the Foundation made grants totaling $8,240,000 to 21 organizations. Six grants were for capital projects and 15 went to smaller community-based organizations.

In 2018, the Foundation made grants totaling $2,400,000 to 19 organizations. Two grants were for capital projects and 17 went to smaller community-based organizations.

As the Foundation looks to the future, it plans to both build on its previous work and to look to new areas of potential investment. The geographic focus of the Foundation will remain Greater Boston, with the intent of carrying on the charitable legacy of its founders.
