Capital and Multi-Year Project Support
Capital Support
Major support has been provided to cultural and educational institutions and hospitals to enable capital improvements, including new construction and renovations.
Representative Capital Grants include:
- Brandeis University
Admissions Building: Construction of an expanded, state-of-the-art admissions center.
Science Center: Construction of a new Science Center, part of an expanded Science Complex to include innovative research, teaching-labs and classroom spaces
- Boston Medical Center
Ambulatory Care Center: Construction of a new Ambulatory Care Center to consolidate, upgrade and expand outpatient clinical services
- Hebrew SeniorLife
Community Center on NewBridge Campus: Construction of a new residential community in Dedham, MA that provides a continuum of housing and health care options for seniors of all ages and abilities.
In addition, other major capital support was provided to:
- Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for the Clinical Center and Minimally Invasive Skills Lab
- Brigham and Women’s Hospital for the Cardiovascular Center
- Museum of Fine Arts for the Sargent Gallery and the Art of the Americas building
- WGBH for the National Center for Accessible Media
Multi-Year Project Support
Significant multi-year project support enabled grant recipients to expand their work and/or to reach new levels of operation.
Representative Multi-Year Project grants included:
- Brigham and Women’s Hospital
The Fund for Surgical Education and Research: Support for the development of residents and young scientists pursuing a career in academic medicine.
- Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
The Shapiro Fund for Film, Education, Public Programs and Special Projects: Support for the Celebrity Lecture Series, the Film Program and selected special exhibits and projects.
In addition, other major multi-year project support was provided to:
- Boston Ballet for the support of resident choreographer Jorma Elo
- United States Holocaust Memorial Museum for an educational technology initiative to teach national and global audiences about the Holocaust and contemporary genocide
